Five weeks into RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 9 and things are starting to heat up. The frontrunners have been solidified, some girls are on the struggle bus and tensions are definitely mounting. This week the queens were paired up for a real estate-themed comedy challenge that ended with another two Benefactress Badges getting handed out. We also saw a (rather dull) day-to-night reveal runway AND teased her new Christmas-themed lip sync outfit that is hopefully better than her reveal-laden first look.
Nearly half way through the competition, the eight competing queens are getting closer to one being inducted into the Drag Race Hall of Fame and earning $200,000. Unlike every previous season of the show, this time the queens are not competing for themselves. They’re competing for a cause. Each of our eight girls have selected a charity and all of their winnings will go to support that good philanthropic work. Also, as with All Stars 7, no one will be going home this season. Instead, each week the top two queens will earn Benefactress Badges, with the three queens who have the most badges competing against each other in the finale for that crown (and cash).
Each week the top two queens will also lip sync in order to win a cash tip for their charity AND the ability to “cut off” one of the bottom six queens. That queen will then be ineligible to earn a Badge the following episode even if they win.
Here’s everything that went down in Episode 5 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 9:
Who won Episode 5 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 9?
Roxxxy Andrews
Miss Andrews has come flying from the back of the pack to first place after snagging two badges last week and earning another one in Episode 5. With three badges, she’s now solidly in the front, and it seems likely that she will be one of the top-three queens fighting in the finale. She also managed to beat Plastique in the lip sync for $10,000 this week, serving as a reminder that if it comes down to a lip sync in the end, she’s likely to beat most of these eight competitors.
Who won Benefactress Badges on Episode 5 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 9?
Plastique Tiara & Roxxxy Andrews
Both Plastique and Roxxxy earned Benefactress Badges this week for their Texas hillbilly-inspired real estate ad. Roxxxy set up Plastique for success and Plastique was finally able to tap into a more ridiculous side of herself in order to win a comedy challenge. She’s likely to win at least one more design challenge, so Plastique may be a bigger threat than initially anticipated.
Who got cut off in Episode 5 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 9?
Gottmik
In what was truly the wildest and most chaotic chopping off ceremony, Roxxxy Andrews (sobbing) finally decided to cut off Gottmik. This was the obvious choice since Gottmik has won two challenges by herself, won two lip syncs AND has yet to be cut off. Gottmik knew it was coming and didn’t even seem that upset. The fact that Roxxxy almost cut off Angeria FOR A THIRD TIME IN FIVE EPISODES was ridiculous.
How many Benefactress Badges do the queens of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 9 each have?
After five episodes the leaderboard stands as follows
- Roxxxy Andrews — 3
- Plastique Tiara — 2
- Vanessa Vanjie Mateo — 2
- Gottmik — 2 (cut off for Episode 6)
- Angeria Paris VanMichaels — 1
- Nina West — 1
- Jorgeous — 1
- Shannel — 0
Who was eliminated in Episode 5 for RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 9?
Trick question! This is a non-elimination season so no one will be eliminated all of Season 9 unless someone quits, gets disqualified or has to be medically evacuated.
