Tom Selleck ‘Blue Blood’ Cancellation Sparks Fear About Losing His Ranch

Tom Selleck is pushing 80 years old. He’s been in the business for 55 years and is one of Hollywood’s most recognizable stars. He’s also been on the CBS Friday night drama, Blue Bloods, for a whopping 14 seasons. The series is pushing 275 episodes, but it’s also coming to an end. The series will conclude at the end of 2024 despite solid ratings and a cast all too willing to return.

It’s a tough business, but I’m sure that Selleck’s biggest concern about the end of a still-strong series is the jobs that the crew and the rest of the cast will lose. Right? I’m sure after 14 years, that whole cast and crew has become family, a family that Selleck—who must be very wealthy—would prioritize over anything else. Right?

“You know, hopefully I keep working enough to hold onto [my 63-acre California ranch],” Selleck told CBS News, adding that if he stopped working, he’d still be “set for life … but maybe not on a 63-acre ranch!”
Selleck reiterated that he hopes that “CBS will come to their senses” and decide to un-cancel Blue Bloods, because, “I can tell you this: we aren’t sliding off down a cliff. We’re doing good shows, and still holding our place.”

And also, he has a 63-acre ranch for which to pay!

His problems are very first-world, but I’ll admit that I’m impressed a nearly 80-year-old man not only wants to continue to work but wants to continue tending to his ranch.

Related: I’ve never seen a moment of Blue Bloods in 14 years, and barely even know that it involves police officers. However, probably because I’m of a certain age, a clip of Donnie Wahlberg on the set of Blue Bloods trying to make an NKOTB dance go viral did recently show up in a social media feed. I’m almost embarrassed to say that I found the whole thing as charming as it was cringey.
