RuPaul’s Drag Race Renewed For Season 17 At MTV; Paramount+ Picks Up ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars’ For Season 10

More drag is on the way at MTV and Paramount+ as RuPaul’s Drag Race and RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars have been renewed for new seasons.

RuPaul’s Drag Race has been picked up for Season 17 on MTV alongside its companion series, RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked.

Paramount+ has greenlit a 10th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars alongside its companion series RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars: Untucked.

The pickups follow the premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars and the franchise’s Emmy nominations.

RuPaul received his ninth consecutive nomination for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program this year, tying the record for most nominations in the category.

RuPaul’s Drag Race is nominated in eight categories, including Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Reality Competition Program, Reality Competition Program, Directing For A Reality Program, Casting For A Reality Program, Production Design For A Variety Or Reality Series, Sound Mixing For A Reality Program, Picture Editing For A Structured Reality Or Competition Program and Outstanding Choreography For Variety Or Reality Programming, while RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked also received nominations for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program and Picture Editing For An Unstructured Reality Program.

The reality competition series received its first Emmy nod in the Outstanding Choreography For Variety Or Reality Programming. Choreographer Jamal Sims recently said at Deadline’s Contenders Television: The Nominees it was “an honor” to receive that recognition, adding, “We have to remember that we’re not working with professional dancers here on the show. They’re contestants, and some of them have never had dance training before. So, to me, it feels like I’m part of the competition. I actually do want each one of them to succeed when I’m choreographing, and that’s what’s so important.”

Senior producer and judge Michelle Visage added, “I just want to give Jamal his flowers because he works tirelessly and endlessly. Some of the queens have never done a step in their life and he makes sure that they have got it down, so they’re comfortable and they’re showing the best of what they can do. He does so much more that he is letting on.”

RuPaul’s Drag Race, RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, and RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars: Untucked are produced by World of Wonder Productions.
