Gibbs’ Original NCIS Team & Headquarters Revealed In New Origins Prequel Images

New images from CBS reveal the original team Gibbs was a part of in the upcoming NCIS: Origins prequel series. Set to premiere this fall, the series takes place in 1991 and follows Gibbs during his first years at the NIS Came Pendleton office. Mark Harmon originated the character of Gibbs on JAG before moving to NCIS until his exit in 2021. Now, Austin Stowell is set to take over the role for CBS’s prequel series. Origins will follow Gibbs as he navigates his early career on a team run by Mike Franks. The NCIS: Origins cast is expansive, though, and now we have a look at other members of Franks and Gibbs’ team.

CBS shared new images of the cast of Origins, giving audiences a look at Gibbs’ team. TVLine also shared images from the set, which reveal a look at the headquarters out of which Gibbs and his team will be operating. You can see the set images here and check out the cast images below:

In order, the images show Austin Stowell as Leroy Jethro Gibbs, Caleb Foote as Bernard Randolf, Diany Rodriguez as Vera Strickland, Kyle Schmid as Mike Franks, Mariel Molino as Cecilia “Lala” Dominguez, and Tyla Abercrumbie as Mary Jo Hayes.

A Gibbs Origin Story Is The Perfect Way To Expand The World Of NCIS
There Are Other Spinoffs In The Works, Too

To date, there are six NCIS spinoffs: Los Angeles, New Orleans, Hawai’i, Sydney, Origins, and the upcoming Tony & Ziva offshoot. Origins, however, is the first spinoff to be set in the past, and it will center on one of the show’s most beloved characters. While Harmon is not returning, Stowell has the opportunity to give Gibbs new dimensions as he explores the early years of the character’s career and how he came to be one of the most prolific members of NCIS.

With the show still seeing massive success all these years later, though, it seems that CBS may seize the opportunity to expand the universe further, especially if NCIS: Origins does well.

Despite the focus on Gibbs, though, his teammates are just as important as the dynamic of various NCIS members, which is something that people come back for. Franks is but one of the returning characters in NCIS: Origins. In the original series, he’s portrayed by Muse Watson and now NCIS fans will get the chance to see the younger version of him that ultimately helped Gibbs become an NCIS Special Agent.

Vera Strickland is another returning character in Origins and there are several others that could pop up over the course of the series if the timing is right. Currently, the only NCIS shows on the air are the flagship series and its Australian offspring, with Origins and Tony & Ziva in the pipeline.
