General Hospital Spoilers: The Power Of Female Friendships

Catfights are infamous in the soap operas. Spoilers for “General Hospital” (GH) are not an exception. Too many to count have been the female rivalries on GH. GH does, however, have a few interesting female pals.

Since moving to Port Charles, Laura Wright’s character Carly Spencer has developed into a mature person with a number of unique friendships. She’s gotten close to several different girls. Consider Kelly Monaco’s character Sam McCall.

When Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) was thought to be dead, these two women developed a strong friendship despite, at best, tolerating each other’s presence in his life.

Sam could have easily held a grudge against Carly for Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) going to prison, but Sam and Carly remain friends.

Carly has even learned to play nice with Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst).

Some Friendships Last no Matter What

Carly and Olivia Falconeri’s (Lisa LoCicero) friendship was recently put to the test.

Ned Quartermain (Wallace Kurth) was thought to be the cause of Carly and Drew’s insider trading bust.

But the real offender is Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros).

Carly advised Olivia to start working against her husband, Ned. Olivia recently told Carly that she was unhappy with all the hints that Ned had turned Carly and Drew in.

Like a champ, Carly accepted Olivia’s scolding because she knew Olivia was under a lot of pressure where Ned was concerned.

She apologized and let her friend know she would be there for her once she cooled off.

The two women talked and worked things out, despite Olivia volunteering to help Nina (Cynthia Reeves) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard) plan their wedding.

That conversation definitely could have taken a wrong turn, and Carly could have been understandably upset with Olivia.

Instead, they reminisced about how they met and the history between them.

It would have been so “Carly” if she had let Olivia’s latest project come between her and her best friend.

However, Carly took the high road and did not let it get to her. General Hospital has a knack for featuring female friendships, even unlikely ones.

Friendship for Revenge

Nina Reeves and Ava Jerome (Maura West) are two excellent examples.

In order to exact revenge on Nicolas and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stewart), this odd pair teamed up.

correspondingly, Cassadine (Marcus Coloma).

Considering that Nina’s insane scheme to take Avery resulted in Ava being forced into labor, it is highly unlikely that the two of them became friends.

Despite all this, Nina and Ava are thick as thieves these days. Ava is keeping a big secret about Nina being the one to turn Carly and Drew into the SEC.

Maura West has even commented about the unusual friendship between the two women and said that even though Ava is a “badass bitch,”

Ava has empathy and a vast capacity for forgiveness. Besides, Ava and Nina know what it is like to be the outsiders looking in.

They both appreciate each other even more for that reason.

Besides, it is a win-win for Ava, who doesn’t like Carly anyway.

As unbelievable as it is, Ava would much rather deal with Nina and Sonny sharing Avery than Carly and Sonny sharing Avery with her.

There is Nothing Better Than a Good Brawl

It’s not uncommon to see two women fighting on soap operas. But there are definitely some interesting female friendships on General Hospital.

Sometimes watching two ladies connect on soap operas is more energizing than watching them roll around on the ground ripping each other’s hair out.

For women, the strength of female friendship is incredibly relatable and enjoyable.

The day pigs fly will come if Nina and Carly become best friends.
