Carly had already lost her partnership in the Metro Court when they ended their friendship, and she resented having to watch Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) take up the torch she had been carrying and carry it in a new path.
It was only after Carly and Olivia had it out over Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) potentially being the SEC tipster that Liv felt comfortable working with Nina.
