General Hospital Recap: Portia Sinks To New Lying Lows To Keep Sprina Apart

Portia Robinson is on a Spencer and Trina mission.

The General Hospital recap for August 9, 2023, features Portia doing her best to keep Spencer from being with Trina.

General Hospital Recap Highlights

In this episode, Trina had Spencer help her move home, and Portia found it hard to be grateful. At GH, Curtis got some pep talks from Marshall and Jordan. Carly and Olivia reminisced about old times as Sonny and Nina talked about wedding dates. Alexis and Gregory bonded over axes. And finally, Dante did his best to solve the Metro Court pool shooting case. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into the details.

Portia The Interloping Mom

Portia (Brook Kerr) was thrilled to see Trina (Tabyana Ali) walk into her living room with suitcases. That meant Trina was moving home. However, she was unhappy to see Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) carrying more bags behind her. Trina made the mistake of leaving Portia and Spencer alone together, so Portia promptly dismissed Spencer and told her that she would be helping Trina now.

When Spencer didn’t want to leave, Portia played the Curtis-Is-Paralyzed Card and explained she deserved one-on-one time with Trina. She even made sure to let him know he was still a danger to Trina since Curtis might have taken a bullet meant for his Uncle Sonny (Maurice Benard). She even pointed out that Spencer is no saint, and he agreed with her but hoped he had earned some redemption. Still, he agreed to say goodbye to Trina and leave. Portia told him he didn’t have to say a word to her daughter, so to make Portia happy, he left.

This did not make Trina happy, especially after Portia lied and said he took off with no prompting from her, adding that he was probably preoccupied with thoughts of Ace rather than thoughts of Trina.

Marshall (Robert Gossett) stopped by to visit Curtis (Donnell Turner) at GH. Curtis still felt sorry for himself, but Marshall was ready to cheer him up with a game of cards. Marshall did his best to convince Curtis to go to the rehab facility and learn to live his life differently. A visit from Jordan (Tanisha Harper) also gave him food for thought.

Carly Gets Some Surprises

Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) was surprised and happy to see Carly (Laura Wright) at her office door. Carly offered sympathy for what’s been happening with Neddie (Wally Kurth), saying she wouldn’t wish that on her worst enemy. Well, her worst enemy overheard that but didn’t comment on it. Nina (Cynthia Watros) quickly thanked Olivia for her help earlier and made herself scarce.

Carly could barely believe her ears when Olivia told her she was helping Nina plan her wedding to Sonny (Maurice Benard) but tried to keep her cool, especially when she learned Olivia offered. Olivia explained she made the offer because she needed a distraction. Carly wanted to know how she could help a clearly-stressed Olivia, but Olivia just wanted to know how Carly could be so altruistic after the way she treated her — daring to be angry that Carly would accuse her comatose husband of doing something he didn’t do.

When Carly said there was nothing to forgive, Olivia felt even worse. How could she have dared to be mean to Carly!?!? The two former friends soon became BFFs again, hugging it out with tears.

Sonny and Nina spent some bonding time together, and she told him all about spotting Carly in Olivia’s office. That brought up wedding talk, and they finally agreed to set a date — tomorrow.

Ax Bars And Bullets

Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) was apoplectic about a corrupt senator walking free, showing how much she should still be a lawyer. She felt she needed to break something, so Gregory (Gregory Harrison) took her to the ax bar to let off steam rather than Liesl (Kathleen Gati) and Anna’s (Finola Hughes) smash place. Gregory was visibly worn out after just a few throws. They then discussed his condition and all he still wanted to do with his life.

Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) informed Jordan that he had more questions than answers about the Metro Court pool shooting. He knew the real target was either Anna or Sonny. After Dante told her the gun was traced back to the WSB, Jordan just wanted to know why the WSB wasn’t more interested in the case.
