“Did You Ever Appreciate Me?”: Drag Race Star Announces Her Retirement From Drag

Venus D-Lite has seemingly announced the end of her drag career in a cryptic social media post.

Taking to her Instagram story on 30 August, the talented performer wrote: “Dear Drag, Is it time to say goodbye? Did you ever appreciate me or my hard-earned endorsed impersonation? Your actions speak for themselves.

“I must do what is best for me and my passion that you once opened the door to. I hope you find peace like I have. Goodbye. PS. You reap what you sew.”

As of this writing, Venus has refrained from sharing additional details about her drag future.

The star memorably competed on the third season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, where she came in 13th place following her performance in the Holiday Thrift Store Drag design challenge.

Outside of the Drag Race sphere, the Florida native also gained notoriety as a Madonna impersonator. She even appeared on the TLC reality show My Strange Addiction due to her love for the ‘Like A Virgin’ singer.

Venus isn’t the only Drag Race star who has sashayed away from the drag art form.

Back in April, Canada’s Drag Race season two star Eve 6000 announced that she was done with drag “at least as it relates to Drag Race.”

“I’m just going to say at this point that I’ve officially quit drag… Drag will always be a part of my life that led me to who I am, but “Drag Race” isn’t something I would ever wish to personally be a part of again.”

Eve added: “Not like it’s big news to anyone, but yeah. I’m over it for many, many, many reasons… I’m flourishing in life more than I ever have since I finally let it go a year ago.”

In November 2023, Venus’ Drag Race season three sister, Stacy Layne Matthews, revealed that she was stepping away from drag after she let her “mind and body get the best“ of her.

“I’ve disappointed too many people. I let my mind and body get the best of me. I let fear and anxiety take over my life,“ she wrote in an Instagram statement.

“I have given myself a reputation that I never had planned. I thought I was stronger than I am. I put on a smile for a long time. I took care of everyone else over the years and lost myself in the process.

However, in January 2024, she seemingly made her return to drag when she uploaded an Instagram post announcing her booking availability.
