General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that some changes are brewing in Esme Prince’s (Avery Pohl) storyline. When Esme first woke up with amnesia at GH, many fans feared this was an instant redemption story.
The show turned Esme into a victim during all the serial killer chaos on Spoon Island with her crazy bio parents, Heather Webber (Alley Mills) and Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom).
Laura Collins (Genie Francis) has also been quite sympathetic to Esme’s situation, so some viewers feared the show was trying to redeem Esme and win fans over.
However, it’s clear that the story is shifting in a new direction now. It’s time to stop viewing this as a redemption storyline and start viewing as something else entirely.
Esme is a villain just like Peter August (Wes Ramsey) was a villain – and we all know how many times Peter kept avoiding punishment to stir up more trouble. That’s just what villains do!
Of course, we should point out that Esme’s amnesia was real when she first claimed memory loss. How Esme behaved in private proved that.
That doesn’t mean Esme is still an amnesiac, especially since no one knows what happened after she read Heather’s mysterious letter.
There’s a chance they’ll eventually show a flashback and reveal that as the moment when Esme’s memory was triggered.
Then again, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) voiced concerns to Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) on the March 23 episode about the new Esme being even worse than the old one.
Even if Esme still doesn’t have her memories back, this story may be about proving she’s rotten to the core.
Whether Esme can remember her past or not, her manipulative side is already starting to rear its ugly head.
Esme went from distrusting Spencer and not wanting him around to wondering what was keeping him outside Laura’s place.
Fans watched as Esme derailed Spencer’s attempt to kiss Trina like the little manipulator she is.
Is this the start of Esme plotting to steal Trina’s man?
Esme never really loved Spencer since seducing him was always part of Ryan Chamberlain’s (Jon Lindstrom) scheme, but what’s love got to do with it?
Perhaps Esme is setting a scheme of her own in motion now.
It’s easy to imagine Esme plotting a Spencer marriage once she realizes it offers more Cassadine perks and could protect her from Victor Cassadine’s (Charles Shaughnessy) wrath.
Naturally, that doesn’t mean Esme’s plan will work.
The point may simply be to show Esme resorting to more manipulation and trying to make Trina miserable like she’s always done.
In other words, Trina’s hint about the new Esme potentially being worse than the old one may come true soon enough!
