Soap Opera Veteran Robin Mattson Celebrates Her Birthday

Any sighting of Robin Mattson on a TV screen (no matter how fleeting) is a reason to celebrate. And the actress, who may be best known as Heather Webber on General Hospital, has a very special milestone to commemorate.

Happy Birthday, Robin Mattson

That’s because she was born on June 1, 1956, in Los Angeles, California, which means that this talented soap hopper is turning 68 years old today! Mattson made her screen debut in the 1966 picture Namu, the Killer Whale.

Subsequently, she appeared on Island of the Lost and episodes of primetime programs like Flipper, Gentle Ben, Off to See the Wizard, and Daniel Boone. In 1976, she joined the cast of Guiding Light and portrayed legacy character Hope Bauer.

After a year on the soap, Robin Mattson continued to guest star in nighttime series — like James at 15, What Really Happened to the Class of ’65?, and The Six Million Dollar Man. She also starred in the film Return to Macon County opposite Nick Nolte and Don Johnson and a plethora of made-for-television movies, including Superdome, Doctors Private Lives, Are You in the House Alone?, and Fantasies.

She played Heather Webber on ABC’s General Hospital between 1980 and 1983 and later moved to Ryan’s Hope as Delia Reid Ryan (Ava from GH’s mother) before assuming the part of Santa Barbara’s main schemer, Gina Capwell. She portrayed the character from December 1985 until that soap’s final episode in January 1993.

Next, she spent six years at All My Children, where she played Janet Green. Mattson’s other daytime credits include The Bold and the Beautiful (ex-Sugar), As the World Turns (ex-Cheri Love), and Days of our Lives (ex-Lee Michaels).

Mattson has made frequent return trips to GH (always reprising the Heather Webber character), including a six-month stint in 2004 and a years-long reign between 2012 and 2014. Her other credits include guest roles on Fantasy Island, Silk Stalkings, and Law & Order.
