NCIS Veteran Addresses Potential Cameo In Tony & Ziva Spinoff

On the heels of the announcement of the Tony and Ziva spinoff, one of the longest-running cast members on NCIS comments on potentially making a cameo.

The oldest active cast member of the NCIS franchise comments on potentially appearing in the recently announced Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David spinoff. On the heels of Michael Weatherly’s NCIS season 21 return in Ducky’s tribute episode, Paramount+ rocked the franchise when it announced that the actor is re-teaming with Cote de Pablo for a new offshoot. The upcoming series will see the couple on the run across Europe with their daughter Tali.

Specific plot details about Tony and Ziva’s NCIS spinoff are currently being kept under wraps, but there are already questions about the possibility of their former teammates making a cameo. Speaking with TV Insider, Sean Murray reveals that there’s always a chance that Timothy McGee can be involved in DiNozzo and Ziva’s latest adventures. Read his full quote below:

To see Tony, McGee, and Ziva together again would be great. Yeah, it’s very possible, I’ll say that. Especially inside of our franchise, as I’m sure you could guess. And yeah, we like to have fun with some of that stuff, and it’s all in the family, so we’ll see what happens.

How McGee Can Reunite With Tony And Ziva In The NCIS Franchise

Tony, Ziva, and McGee are part of perhaps the most popular NCIS team in its more than 20 years on the screen. Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), Ducky Mallard (David McCallum), Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen), and Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) complete the roster. Considering this, there’s always interest in seeing any kind of reunion involving these actors. Luckily, the franchise has set a precedent when it comes to this, as Murray points out NCIS’ penchant for crossovers and cameos. Weatherly’s latest visit to the DC office is glaring proof of that.

There are several ways to reunite McGee with Tony and Ziva. It could be through Weatherly and de Pablo’s return to the mothership series. NCIS is known for its backdoor pilots, and their potential appearance could be the launching pad for their new show. It would also help raise awareness for the project, as unlike other spinoffs that are airing on network TV, Tony and Ziva’s adventures will be streaming on Paramount+. Secondly, the offshoot could simply bring in Murray for a cameo. Considering his tech skills, the couple could use his help throughout their ordeal.

Any kind of reunion would be great, especially since it has been a decade since Murray, Weatherly, and de Pablo all shared the screen. That being said, it would be so much better if NCIS could bring back more of their former teammates. Harmon is especially a fan-favorite choice for this, considering that Gibbs acted as McGee, Tony, and Ziva’s father figure and team leader during their time with the agency.
