NCIS Origins will tell the tale of veteran Leroy Gibbs long before he became the wise and trusted agent fans loved for almost 20 years.
NCIS Origins is set to delve into the earlier years of Agent Leroy Gibbs and a fan has already predicted how the prequel story will begin.
Last month, CBS announced NCIS Origins, a prequel drama centred on a younger Leroy Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon) is in the works and expected to air during the 2024-2025 season.
The upcoming series will be set in the 1990s with new special agent Gibbs having to prove himself to his superior Mike Franks at the NCIS Camp Pendleton office.
As of yet, there has been no indication of who will portray the younger version of Gibbs or any of his co-stars but actor Mark Harmon is returning to narrate and act as an executive producer.
Details on the upcoming drama’s plot has been scarce so far but one fan believes they know exactly what the major first season storyline is going to be.
Taking to Reddit, a user theorised: “The Fed 5 will for sure be a main storyline because when Gibbs started that was his first assignment was working with Pride, Franks, Betts, and McLane and forming that task force to take down Lorta.
“So if I’m correct, it’ll be the first season storyline, Fed 5.”
A second then agreed: “Now this is for sure possible since Gibbs has previously stated that he knew and worked with Pride.”
The Fed Five was an established group of NIS (Naval Investigative Unit) who were active around two decades prior to NCIS starting to air in 2003.
The group was made up of Dan McLane who was in charge at the time), Mike Franks (Muse Watson), Felix Betts (Stuart Margolin), Dwayne Cassius Pride (Scott Bakula) and Gibbs.
This was the first time Gibbs and Pride worked together, although they had known each other for 30 years, as he didn’t join until after serving in Colombia in the first Persian Gulf War.
Therefore, it is implied that the NCIS veterans served alongside one another in the Marines.
The biggest case for the Fed 5 was the Privileged Killer, an infamous serial killer who murdered active and former US Marine Corps or Navy, as well as public servants.
At the time, the team was celebrated for putting away Victor Lorta who was convicted for the crimes, however, years later in 2014, the case was reopened when it was discovered he was innocent.
With help from Pride and Agent Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham), Gibbs found out that Fed 5 leader McLane had been accepting hush money from Joseph Hanlon (Chelcie Ross).
This was exchanged so McLane would protect Hanlon’s son Spencer Hanlon (Drew Walters) who was the real Privileged Killer.
Franks was murdered in 2011 by the Port to Port Killer and Mclane was killed prior to Gibbs’ finding out the truth about Hanlon.
So the three remaining living Fed 5 agents are Gibbs, Pride and Betts.
NCIS season 21 continues every Monday on CBS.
