GH Spoilers Speculation: Austin Gatlin-Holt Isn’t Who He Says He Is

How GH fans caught him in a lie.

GH spoilers have made us suspicious about Austin from the first moment he showed up onscreen, lurking in the woods like some kind of…weird lurker guy. He claimed to be the son of Jimmy Lee Holt, Edward Qurtermaine’s illegitimate son, and thus Tracy’s nephew, Jason’s cousin, Michael’s…something, etc. The Quartermaines bought his story pretty quickly. But the fans are smarter.

That Was Your First Mistake

No DNA test, not even a phone call to ol’ Jimmy Lee to check out the veracity of Austin’s (Roger Howarth) story (OK, he said Jimmy Lee was dead, but did anyone check that?). Michael (Chad Duell) is stupid, and Jason (Steve Burton) doesn’t really care. But we expected more of Tracy (Jane Elliot). In any case, Austin was accepted as a member of the family, no questions asked. Yet we have questions.

Age of Aquarius

Austin recently slipped and admitted to being 48 years old. But those of us who were there for it, know that Jimmy Lee only met Charity about 37 years ago, after Alan (Stuart Damon) lost his memory and ended up living on a farm with a wholesome farm widow. Alan regained his memory and came back to Monica (Leslie Charleson). So little brother Jimmy Lee got the “widow.”

Likely Explanation

Sure, we could chalk it up to just an old, boring case of Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome (SORAS). But that’s usually for kids. They go from infant to preschooler to pre-teen to teen who looks like a twentysomething. It’s rare to age adults deliberately. Which is why we have a much better story.

Brother’s Keeper

When Alan and Jimmy Lee met Charity, she had a wholesome farming son, Jonah, who was about 10 years old at the time. Jonah would be 48 years old about now, not any child Jimmy Lee and Charity had. So what if it’s Jonah passing himself off as Austin? What if there is no Austin? What if Jonah just took the stories his late stepfather told him, and decided he and his mom were owed some of that Quartermaine money? Now we have a tale!
