General Hospital Spoilers: Nicholas Chavez Is Leaving GH Temporarily

Nicholas Chavez, who plays Spencer Cassadine on “General Hospital,” is reportedly quitting the soap series after landing the lead role in an upcoming Netflix film on real-life serial killers.

Recently, the popular streaming service debuted a Monster anthology series by American TV writer Ryan Murphy. The first publication of Jeffrey Dahmer’s story was a hit!

The creators have now made the decision to create a second season. The new book will describe Lyle and Erik Menendez, two serial killer brothers.

Will ‘General Hospital’ Recast Spencer Cassadine?

Monsters: The Menendez Brothers’ production schedule has not yet been set. This means that Nicholas Chavez, a Daytime Emmy winner and nominee this year, will temporarily leave “General Hospital” when filming for his new part begins.

We are unsure of Nick’s exact departure date from the show at this time due to the WGA writers’ strike. While Nick is abroad filming his new movie, “General Hospital” does not intend to hire a replacement actor to fill Spencer Cassadine’s role.

It is also uncertain how long the Netflix series will need Chavez to shoot for. As for Spencer’s storyline, GH would most likely write off the character for a month or for some episodes before the actor returns to continue playing his role as a Cassadine family member and Trina’s love interest.

It is uncertain how Chavez’ presumably long absence from the show will be incorporated into his character’s storyline. Perhaps he would be made to join his grandmother Laura’s futile search for his father, Nikolas, in Russia?

Nicholas Chavez is the 10th person to play the role of Spencer on ‘General Hospital’. He made his debut in 2021. His performance has been outstanding and he has won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Performer in a Drama Series in 2022. He is also nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series this year.
