Soap Opera Veteran Tristan Rogers Celebrates His Birthday

Help this GH icon celebrate his special day!

General Hospital’s Robert Scorpio doesn’t have much to celebrate. His ex-wife and best friend, Anna Devane, has just been arrested, and another, Holly Sutton, has left town to rescue her son, Ethan, from all the powerful people to whom he owes money. In Port Charles, Scorpio just might find himself across the aisle in court from his current [maybe?] love interest, Diane Miller, for Carly Spencer’s and Drew Cain’s SEC case. Luckily, life is far less gloomy for actor Tristan Rogers.

Happy Birthday, Tristan Rogers

That’s because he was born on June 3, 1946, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, which means that this talented performer is turning 77 years old today! Rogers’s early work consisted of roles in some of the most popular soap operas in his native homeland, namely Bellbird, Number 96, and The Box.

He also joined the inaugural cast of the one-season and done police procedural The Link Men. His subsequent work included guest appearances on Barrier Reef, Division 4, and the 1976 mini-series Power Without Glory.

Rogers also appeared in Four Dimensions of Greta, The Flesh and Blood Show, and Sex Farm — British feature films. Upon emigrating to the U.S., he was hired by General Hospital executive producer Gloria Monty to play Robert Scorpio, a short-term role that bloomed into a contract part.

Rogers remained on the soap until 1992, at which point Robert went missing and was presumed dead. He reprised the part in 1995 to act as a comforting spirit to his daughter, Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough). In 1997, he played private investigator Hunter Jones on The Bold and the Beautiful.

He returned to GH in January 2006, at which point Robert was revealed to have been alive and well as working for the World Security Bureau. He has remained with the show ever since, albeit on a recurring basis.
