Blue Bloods Actor Donnie Wahlberg Is ‘Extremely Grateful’ For Announcement Of Season 14

Donnie Wahlberg is overjoyed after learning that his long-running hit Blue Bloods will be renewed for a second season.

CBS announced the renewal of the series for Season 14 on March 28. The decision was made following a delay caused by the network’s need to make budget cuts in order to keep the Tom Selleck-led procedural on the air.

During an interview with ET’s Nischelle Turner, Wahlberg admitted that he is grateful for not only Blue Bloods, but also his overall successful career in entertainment.

“I’m just so grateful, you know?” He burst out laughing. “It’s incredible to be doing so many things that I enjoy.” I’ve been in my band [New Kids on the Block] for almost 40 years, 30-something years, and I’ve been doing this show for 13 years, and I’m eternally grateful.”

Donnie Wahlberg allegedly took a significant pay cut to keep ‘Blue Bloods’ on the air.

While the actor has admitted that he has considered leaving his role as Danny Reagan, he never gives it much thought. With shows like NCIS and Law & Order dominating television, he’d like to see how far his show can go. And with Blue Bloods still reigning as the No. 1 Friday series and the No. 3 primetime drama, there is plenty of room for expansion.

“I have a great cast that has become family, a great crew, and a lot of loyal viewers and fans,” he added. “It’s simply unbelievable. So I don’t feel relieved as much as I have to pinch myself from time to time, wondering, “How did this happen?” Growing up, I dreamed of finding a way to do things I enjoy, and to be doing it after all these years and having so much fun doing it makes me feel so blessed and grateful.”

According to Deadline, the show’s stars agreed to a 25% pay cut in order to keep the show on the air. They all agreed it was the best decision for the show and the dozens of crew members who have had steady work because of Blue Bloods’ longevity.

Donnie Wahlberg will appear in Season 14 alongside Tom Selleck, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Marisa Ramirez, and Vanessa Ray.
